JAKE DOMBEK

Living for wild places. Capturing what it means to feel alive.

I’m Jake Dombek, a Maine-based photographer with roots in the mountains and waters of Vermont. My work is shaped by a lifelong pull toward remote places, the kind you reach by paddle, boot, or sheer will.

My photography journey began in an unexpected place: on a remote canoe trip through the boreal forests of Temagami, Ontario. I was just a teenager, introduced to backcountry travel by my best friend Liam through a summer wilderness canoe tripping camp. What started as a challenging summer adventure soon became a defining part of my life. Years later, an 800-mile canoeing expedition from British Columbia to Alaska reignited that spark, and marked the moment I picked up a camera with real intention.

Since then, photography has been my way of staying connected to wild places. Whether hiking deep into snow-covered peaks or drifting through morning fog on the Allagash River, my aim is simple: to capture the feeling of being fully alive. I aim to tell stories that reflect the land and the people drawn to it.

I specialize in:
• Remote expedition photography
• Outdoor lifestyle & brand storytelling
• Landscape photography from Maine, Vermont & New Hampshire

Previously, I founded the photography and video production company, Sundog Creations, in Vermont. I currently work in digital marketing at an agency in Portland, Maine. Today, I’m focused fully on photography, telling stories shaped by wilderness, and partnering with brands who share that love.
