St. Regis Canoe Area: The Nine Carries
A journey through the Adirondacks’ only designated canoe area.
A weekend walking and paddling through the Adirondacks.
My friend Dana and I ventured into the Adirondacks in June, 2025 to attempt our own variation on the classic Nine Carries Route through the St. Regis Canoe Area. We started in Little Clear Pond and ended in Hoel Pond. Altogether, it was about 8 miles of portaging and 16 miles of paddling through 13 beautiful ponds.
